But I have seen and heard him play the drums and will again, more often, with the group “Friends of Friction.”
The 2 founding members later welcomed Tim Ruiz (bass), Joe Gonzales(drums), Jesus Angel (keyboards) and Viktor (guitar). La Mafia (first known as Los Jovenes) helped popularize the THEN unknown music genre, Tex-Mex or Tejano Music.

Joe feels very lucky to have have had a chance to perform with conjunto greats such as Gilberto Perez, Tony de la Rosa, and Chano Cadena, just to name a few. On July 18, 2004 in Harlingen, Texas, Joe Gonzales Y Su Conjunto performed at the STCA awards.
