Sir Gyles Isham, 12th Baronet (31 October 1903 – 29 January 1976) was an English aristocrat, actor, and historian . Life and career. Gyles Isham was born 31 October 1903 in Lamport, Northamptonshire, England to Sir Vere Isham, the 11th Baronet of Lamport, and his wife Millicent Vaughan.
Sir Gyles Isham, the twelfth Baronet, in 1958 was High Sheriff of Northamptonshire. The family surname is pronounced "Eye-shum", and derives from the village of Isham , Northamptonshire . The family coat of arms are described as, "gules, a fesse wavy, and in chief three piles, also wavy, points meeting in fesse, argent".

By about 1950 the house had considerably deteriorated, and the then owner Sir Gyles Isham undertook major renovation works and allowed the ground floor to be opened to the public in 1974. When he died in 1976 he left the building and its contents to the Lamport Hall Preservation Trust, who care for the Hall and Gardens today.

19 de jul. de 2021 · The last Isham of Lamport was Sir Gyles Isham, who had a successful career as an actor and initiated the restoration of his family home. When Sir Gyles died without an heir in 1976 he left the house and the estate to a charitable trust, and it is the trustees who administer Lamport today.
