Field Marshal William Riddell Birdwood, 1st Baron Birdwood, GCB, GCSI, GCMG, GCVO, CIE, DSO (13 September 1865 – 17 May 1951) was a British Army officer. He saw active service in the Second Boer War on the staff of Lord Kitchener.
William Riddell Birdwood (1865-1951), 1st Baron Birdwood of Anzac and Totnes, field marshal, was born on 13 September 1865 at Kirkee, India, second son of Herbert Mills Birdwood, under-secretary to the government of Bombay, and Edith Marion, daughter of Surgeon Major E. G. H. Impey of the Bombay Horse Artillery.

27 de may. de 2024 · William Riddell Birdwood, 1st Baron Birdwood, was commander of the new Australian and New Zealand contingents (ANZACs) in the Great War 1914. As a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath he has a stall plate in the chapel of that Order in Westminster Abbey.
