Billy Claiborne, a member of the notorious Clanton Gang of Tombstone, Arizona, was an outlaw cowboy, miner, and gunfighter. He was killed in a gunfight with “Buckskin Frank” Leslie.
In Tombstone at the time of the gunfight were five members of the Cowboys: Billy Claiborne, brothers Ike and Billy Clanton, and brothers Tom and Frank McLaury. During that brief battle, 3 men were killed, 3 were wounded, 2 ran away, and one fought but was unharmed.

Billy Claiborne. Billy Claiborne, who had run from the fight, supported Ike Clanton's testimony as well. Claiborne also backed up the version of events testified to by Behan that placed a nickel-plated pistol in Holliday's hands, and that Holliday opened the fight with a shot from his nickel-plated pistol.
