This all but forgotten American hero was Hispanic and raised by a family of Asian-Americans before enlisting in the service when Pearl Harbor was attacked.

This is the story of an extraordinary man - Guy Gabaldon - a U.S. Marine of Hispanic descent who single-handedly captured over 1100 Japanese during the bloody fighting on Saipan in the summer of 1944.
He was featured on the PBS series Latino Americans and a documentary titled East LA Marine: The Untold True Story of Guy Gabaldon, chronicling his wartime exploits. Despite all this positive media exposure, he never received the Medal of Honor, he so richly deserves. Guy Luis Gabaldon died in 2006.
