A courtroom-drama about a dead Captain whose memory is publicly accused by a historian on TV, twenty years after his death. The story follows his widow's struggle to prove that he was not a murderer and did not practise torture while he was leading a ground unit during the Algerian war .

A Captain's Honor (original title L'Honneur d'un capitaine) is a 1982 French war drama directed by Pierre Schoendoerffer. In modern France a historian abuses in war crimes Capt. Marcel Caron, a French officer who perished in Algerian war. Caron's widow starts a trial against the historian.
In a TV program, Professor Paulet called the fallen in the Algerian war Capitaine Caron as a torturer and murderer. His widow goes to court with inexperienced lawyer Valouin and sues for libel.
