Crime Wave (also known as The City Is Dark) is a 1954 American film noir starring Sterling Hayden and Gene Nelson, and directed by Andre de Toth. It was adapted from a short story which originally appeared in The Saturday Evening Post - "Criminal Mark" by John and Ward Hawkins.

Crime Wave follows Steve Lacey (Gene Nelson), an ex con trying to stay on the straight and narrow and keep the life he has begun to build with his wife Ellen (Phyllis Kirk). Unfortunately for him, some bad seeds from his past come calling after a robbery gone wrong, and distrustful detective Sims (Sterling Hayden) is hot on their tail.
