Ferenc Fricsay (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈfɛrɛnt͡s ˈfrit͡ʃɒi]; 9 August 1914 – 20 February 1963) was a Hungarian conductor. From 1960 until his death, he was an Austrian citizen.
Ferenc Fricsay. Hungarian conductor, born 9 August 1914, Budapest – died 20 February 1963, Basel (Switzerland). He made his first appearance as a conductor at age 15. He became musical director of the RIAS Symphony Orchestra RIAS Symphonie-Orchester Berlin in Germany in 1949, and of the Houston Symphony Orchestra in 1954.
