Arthur Hamilton Lee, 1st Viscount Lee of Fareham, GCB, GCSI, GBE, PC (8 November 1868 – 21 July 1947), was an English soldier, diplomat, politician, philanthropist and patron of the arts. After military postings and an assignment to the British Embassy in Washington, he retired from the military in 1900.
Arthur Hamilton Lee, who was elevated to the peerage in 1918, was the tenant of Rookesbury Park from about 1900 to 1912. A soldier, politician, diplomat, patron of the arts and philanthropist, Arthur Lee served as Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, and First Lord of the Admiralty following the Great War.
17 de abr. de 2024 · Arthur Hamilton Lee, Viscount Lee of Fareham was a benefactor to Westminster Abbey. In 1939 and 1942 he gave two bronze candelabra, six feet by seven feet wide. These are by the sculptor Benno Elkan and represent scenes from the Old and New Testaments.
