Beverly Eaves Perdue (born Beverly Marlene Moore; January 14, 1947) is an American businesswoman, politician, and member of the Democratic Party who served as the 73rd governor of North Carolina from 2009 to 2013.

Beverly Perdue is the first woman elected Governor of North Carolina in 2008. She was elected as the state’s first female Lieutenant Governor from 2000 to 2008. And she was elected to the General Assembly of North Carolina, first as a Representative to the State House from 1986 to 1990 and then as a member of the State Senate from 1990 to 2000.

She says she felt the weight of that honor as she took her oath on January 6, 2001 as the first female lietenant governor before later becoming the state's first female governor in 2009.
