George Henry Thomas (July 31, 1816 – March 28, 1870) was an American general in the Union Army during the American Civil War and one of the principal commanders in the Western Theater.
17 de may. de 2014 · When all seemed lost at the battle of Chickamauga Creek and his commanding general and five other generals retreated, George Henry Thomas dug in with his men and led them to safety after nightfall. The feat earned him the nickname of “Rock of Chickamauga.”
