  1. Negus Mikael of Wollo (born Mohammed Ali, 1850 – 8 September 1918), was an army commander and a member of the nobility of the Ethiopian Empire. He was the father of the "uncrowned" Emperor Lij Iyasu, and the grandfather of Empress Menen, wife of Emperor Haile Selassie. He changed his name to Mikael upon converting to Christianity.

Negus Mikael set out from Wollo with an army of 80.000 men to invade the Kingdom of Shewa where the 120.000 soldiers of Ras Tafari under the command of Fitawrari (Baron) Habte Giyorgis awaited them. This battle is known as the Battle of Segele.

  5. 13 de ago. de 2011 · Negus Mikael of Wollo, whose name had been Muhamed Ali before he was converted to Christianity, was the Oromo king of Tigre and Wollo respectively. His son, Lij Iyasu, who was the grandson of Emperor Menelik, reigned over Ethiopia without crowning himself for three years (1913-1916.)
