Thandi Ruth Modise (born 25 December 1959) is a South African politician who is currently serving as the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans. She was previously the Premier of the North West from 2010 to 2014, Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces from 2014 to 2019, and Speaker of the National Assembly from 2019 to 2021.

Ms Modise was the Speaker of the National Assembly at the commencement of the sixth administration. She was the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) during the fifth democratic Parliament. She is currently the Chancellor of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
Ms Thandi Modise was appointed as the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans on 5 August 2021. She was the Speaker of National Assembly of the Republic of South Africa from 22 May 2019 to 5 August 2021.
