Basdeo Panday (pronounced [bɑːsəd̪eːoː pɑːⁿɖeː]; 25 May 1933 – 1 January 2024) was a Trinidadian and Tobagonian statesman, lawyer, politician, trade unionist, economist, and actor who served as the fifth Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago from 1995 to 2001.

Panday tenía 90 años y llevaba algún tiempo con problemas cardíacos, y recientemente viajó a Estados Unidos para consultas médicas.
Panday, who celebrated his 90th birthday on May 25, was Trinidad and Tobago’s fifth prime minister, serving from 1995-2001. He was the founder and leader of the United National Congress up to 2010 when he was replaced by Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
