  2. Before his appointment as Secretary for Justice in 2005, Mr. Wong Yan Lung SC had a broad civil and commercial practice including land, trust, company and defamation. He also had a substantial public law practice covering town planning, land compensation and other constitutional issues.

  3. The Honourable Wong Yan Lung was Hong Kong's Secretary for Justice from 2005-12, and sought to implement the One Country Two Systems principle with full commitment to upholding judicial independence and the integrity of the common law.

  5. Mr Wong Yan-lung is a native of Chaozhou, Guangdong Province. The eldest son in the family, he was born in October 1963 to Mr Wong Kam-lit, a hawker of ice-cream and soft drinks in Wan Chai. As an honest man who refused to gamble or borrow money, Mr Wong Senior led an austere life and used his meagre earnings to support his family.
