Lieutenant-Colonel Noel Anthony Scawen Lytton, 4th Earl of Lytton, OBE (7 April 1900 – 18 January 1985), was a British Army officer, Arabian horse fancier (of the Crabbet Arabian Stud) and writer.
Lord Lytton and Lady Wentworth were succeeded, respectively, in 1951 and 1957 by their son Noel Lytton, 4th Earl of Lytton; as a consequence the title Baron Wentworth, in the Peerage of England, became subsidiary to the Earldom of Lytton.
Background and education. The elder son of Noel Lytton, 4th Earl of Lytton, by his wife Clarissa Mary née Palmer, [1] he is a descendant of the poet and adventurer Lord Byron (born 1788) via his daughter Ada Lovelace (born 1815), who was arguably the world's first computer programmer.
