Pável Popovich nació el 5 de octubre de 1929 en la entonces república soviética de Ucrania, estudió en una escuela de aviación y sirvió en la Fuerza Aérea hasta 1960, cuando fue admitido en el primer equipo de cosmonautas de la URSS.
Pavel Popovich was a Soviet cosmonaut who piloted the Vostok 4 spacecraft, launched August 12, 1962. He and Andriyan G. Nikolayev, who was launched a day earlier in Vostok 3, became the first two men to be in space simultaneously.
