Colin Campbell, 1st Earl of Argyll (c. 1433 – 10 May 1493) was a medieval Scottish nobleman, peer, and politician. He was the son of Archibald Campbell, Master of Campbell and Elizabeth Somerville, daughter of John Somerville, 3rd Lord Somerville. He had the sobriquet Colin Mulle, Bold Earl Colin.

When Colin Campbell 1st Earl of Argyll was born on 10 September 1433, in Glenorchy, Argyll, Scotland, his father, Sir Archibald Campbell Master of Campbell, was 21 and his mother, Elizabeth Somerville, was 20. He married Isabel Elizabeth Stewart on 9 April 1453, in Glenorchy and Inishail, Argyll, Scotland.

19 de dic. de 2023 · Colin Campbell was created Earl of Argyll in 1457. He became Lord Lorn on 17 Apr 1470 by a charter of that date, conveying to him the lands and lordship of Lorn on the resignation of his wife's uncle, Walter Stewart, Lord Innermeath.

Colin Campbell was the grandson of the 1st Lord Campbell [S] (1445). Colin's elevation to earl (1458) was followed by a steady acquisition of lands and offices. Argyll combined the attributes of a shrewd royal councillor and the ambitions of an immensely powerful Highland clan chief.
Colin Mor Campbell (‘Colin The Great') was their Chief and his name ‘MacCailein Mor' is still used by the chief of the Clan Campbell, The Duke of Argyll, today. Colin Mor Campbell was killed in 1296 and was succeeded by his son Sir Neil Campbell, companion and brother-in-law of King Robert the Bruce.
