Michael Daniel Higgins (en irlandés, Micheál D. Ó hUigínn; n. Limerick, 18 de abril de 1941) es un político irlandés, actual presidente de Irlanda. Anteriormente fue parlamentario, ministro de Cultura y presidente del Partido Laborista.

Michael D. Higgins is also a writer and poet, contributing to many books covering diverse aspects of Irish politics, sociology, history and and culture. He has published two collections of essays — ‘Causes for Concern — Irish Politics, Culture and Society’ and ‘Renewing the Republic’.
