Benjamin Harrison IV (1693 – July 12, 1745 [1]) was a colonial American planter, politician, and member of the Virginia House of Burgesses. He was the son of Benjamin Harrison III and the father of Benjamin Harrison V, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the fifth governor of Virginia.

Benjamin Harrison V was one of 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence. During the war he also took care of matters at home by serving as a senior member in the county militia and took the job of chief magistrate as well. After the war, Harrison remained active in Virginia politics as a member of the House of Delegates.
Benjamin Harrison V was an eighteen-year-old student at William and Mary College when his father’s death made him master of Berkeley. Tall and handsome, without the great weight that years would add to his frame, he moved with ease, grace, and the air of a born aristocrat.
Harrison IV, dated October 17, 1743, names eleven children in separate lists according to sex with each apparently ranked according to age. The three eldest, Elizabeth, Anne, and Benjamin V, were all born before the making of their
Benjamin Harrison II (1645-1712) began as a prominent yeoman planter who expanded his operations by opening a river-front store on the James trading principally in tobacco. He rose to Sheriff, Speaker of the House of Burgesses and a member of the Council of Virginia.
Berkeley is one of the earliest of the doublepile, two-story Georgian brick mansions of the colony. It was built by Benjamin Harrison IV, the husband of Robert “King” Carter's daughter Anne.
