He was the cousin and heir of Henry Lee of Ditchley . The 1st Earl of Lichfield from the Lee family was succeeded by his third but eldest surviving son, George Henry Lee, who became the 2nd Earl and 6th Baronet. He constructed the stately home of Ditchley in Oxfordshire. On his death the titles passed to his son George Henry Lee, the 3rd Earl.

7 de feb. de 2024 · From him was descended Sir Edward Henry Lee, fifth Baronet, Colonel of the first Foot Guards, who was elevated to the Peerage as Earl of Lichfield, by letters patent, on the 5th of June, 1674; Robert, the fourth Earl, died on the 4th of November, 1776, without issue, when the earldom of Lichfield and minor honors became extinct.*
Hon Robert Lee, later4th Earl of Lichfield. 1. Lady Charlotte Lee (b. 13 Mar 1678; d. 22 Jan 1720/1), mar. (1) 2 Jan 1698/9 Benedict Leonard [Calvert], 4th Baron Baltimore, and (2) bef. 10 Dec 1719 Christopher Crowe, of Woodford, co. Essex, Consul at Leghorn (d. 9 Nov 1749), and had issue by her first husband.
The 3rd and 4th earls, George Henry II and Robert Lee respectively, died without issue, therefore the estate eventually reverted to the 2nd Earl's eldest surviving daughter, and sister of the 3rd Earl, Lady Charlotte Lee.
