James Schoolcraft Sherman (October 24, 1855 – October 30, 1912) was the 27th vice president of the United States. He was in office from March 4, 1909 to October 30, 1912. Sherman was a member of the Republican Party, and served with President William Howard Taft.
James Schoolcraft Sherman (1855-1912), lawyer, banker and vice-president of the United States, began his political career as mayor of Utica, N.Y. in 1884. In 1886 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and served until 1908 excepting 1891 to 1893.
