  4. JAMES PINCKNEY HENDERSON was born in Lincoln County, North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina but left to read law and was admitted to the Bar in 1829. In 1836, he led a company of militia to Texas to fight in the revolution and was commissioned Brigadier-General.

  6. 19 de ene. de 2024 · On February 19, 1846, Henderson was elected governor of the new state. Shortly after his election, the Mexican War began, and the state legislature granted Henderson a leave of absence to take the field as a major general in the Texas state troops.
