When Joan Beaufort was born on 28 January 1375, in Beaufort, France, her father, John of Gaunt 1st Duke of Lancaster, was 34 and her mother, Katherine de Roet, was 26. She married Sir Robert Ferrers in 1391, in Anjou, France. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters.
Joan Beaufort (c. 1377 – 13 November 1440) was the youngest of the four legitimised children and only daughter of John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster (third surviving son of King Edward III), by his mistress, later wife, Katherine de Roet.
