  5. 15 de dic. de 2014 · Within the tomb lies Alice de la Pole, late duchess of Suffolk (and lady of the Garter), but her posthumous “fame” derives from her maiden name, which was Chaucer. Alice was born c.1404, probably at Ewelme, the only child of Thomas Chaucer (c.1367-1434) and his wife Maud Burghersh (c.1379-1437).

  6. Alice Chaucer’s Tomb. Alice de la Pole’s tomb is cut entirely of alabaster and is of a unique design. The upper section is a conventional, solid tomb chest, decorated with figures of angels set under canopies. Supported on this is a full length effigy of the Duchess, lying beneath a complex canopy.

  7. 12 de nov. de 2013 · Geoffrey’s son Thomas- there are some suggestions that Thomas was in fact John of Gaunt’s son but there is no evidence to confirm this- had a daughter called Alice who married three times. Her final husband was William de la Pole – who became the Duke of Suffolk.
