El título de Marqués de Northampton fue creado por primera vez en la nobleza de Inglaterra en 1547 a favor de William Parr, hermano de Catherine Parr, la sexta y última esposa del rey Enrique VIII. He was appointed a Knight of the Garter in April 1543 and his sister Katherine became Henry’s sixth wife a few months later.
