Su madre fue la primera esposa de su padre en 1839, Valide Bezmiâlem Sultan, originalmente llamada Suzi (1807-1853), ya sea una esclava circasiana [2] o georgiana. [ 3 ] [ 4 ] [ 1 ] Abdülmecid recibió una educación europea y hablaba francés con fluidez, siendo el primer sultán en hacerlo. [ 5 ]

11 de jun. de 2009 · Valide Sultan, a reformist, had a school called Darülmaârif built in Divanyolu. It was also called ‘Valide Sultan School’. It was officially opened in 1850. Sultan Abdulmecid participated in the inauguration and brought his son and daughter with him. He wanted them to be educated at the school.
Abdulmejid I ( Ottoman Turkish: عبد المجيد اول, romanized : ʿAbdü'l-Mecîd-i evvel, Turkish: I. Abdülmecid; 25 April 1823 – 25 June 1861) was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire. He succeeded his father Mahmud II on 2 July 1839. [4] His reign was notable for the rise of nationalist movements within the empire's territories.
