Count Michael Mikhailovich de Torby (8 October 1898 in Wiesbaden – 25 April 1959 in London) was the son of Grand Duke Michael Mikhailovich of Russia (1861–1929) and his morganatic wife Countess Sophie of Merenberg (1868–1927). 6 de ago. de 2020 · On August 4, 1892, Sophie Nikolaevna received the title of Countess of Torby for her and her offspring from the Duke of Nassau. It was invented by Mikhail Mikhailovich himself in memory of the village of Tory on his father's Borjomi estate, Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich.
As his wife could not be granted the title of Grand Duchess, her uncle, Adolphe, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, made her Countess de Torby, with a special remainder to her children and grandchildren in the male line.
