Bruce Alan Beutler (Chicago, Illinois, 29 de diciembre de 1957) es un inmunólogo y genetista estadounidense. Biography. Bruce Beutler, MD, discovered an important family of receptors that allow mammals to sense infections when they occur, triggering a powerful inflammatory response. For this work he received the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
3 de oct. de 2011 · Bruce Beutler descubrió en 1998 que un receptor del gen Toll (Toll-like receptor o TLR) era el responsable de reconocer a ciertos productos bacterianos (lipopolisacáridos o LPS) que sobreestimulaban el sistema inmune. La respuesta del sistema inmune se desencadenaba cuando TLR se acoplaba a los LPS.
Bruce A. Beutler, Center for the Genetics of Host Defense at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern), was awarded the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. The prize was shared by three immunologists.
