Wacław Franciszek Sierpiński (IPA: ˈvaʦwaf fraɲˈʨiʂɛk ɕɛrˈpʲiɲskʲi; Varsovia, 14 de marzo de 1882-Varsovia, 21 de octubre de 1969) fue un matemático polaco. [1] Son notables sus aportaciones a la teoría de conjuntos, la teoría de números, la topología y la teoría de funciones.
Wacław Franciszek Sierpiński (Polish: [ˈvat͡swaf fraɲˈt͡ɕiʂɛk ɕɛrˈpij̃skʲi] ⓘ; 14 March 1882 – 21 October 1969) was a Polish mathematician. He was known for contributions to set theory (research on the axiom of choice and the continuum hypothesis), number theory, theory of functions, and topology.
Sierpiński was the author of the incredible number of 724 papers and 50 books. He retired in 1960 as professor at the University of Warsaw but he continued to give a seminar on the theory of numbers at the Polish Academy of Sciences up to 1967 .
