Jean-Pierre Luminet, né le 3 juin 1951 à Cavaillon, est un astrophysicien, conférencier, écrivain et poète français, spécialiste de réputation internationale des trous noirs et de la cosmologie.
Jean-Pierre Luminet is a specialist in the history of cosmology and in particular the emergence of the concept of the Big Bang. He emphasizes in several books and articles the leading role played by the Belgian priest and cosmologist Georges Lemaître.
