Alain Robbe-Grillet (Brest, Bretaña; 18 de agosto de 1922-Caen, Normandía; 18 de febrero de 2008) fue un escritor y cineasta francés. Fue el principal teórico y animador del movimiento literario llamado nouveau roman (traducido como nueva novela).
Alain Robbe-Grillet ( French: [alɛ̃ ʁɔb ɡʁijɛ]; 18 August 1922 – 18 February 2008) was a French writer and filmmaker. He was one of the figures most associated with the Nouveau Roman ( lit. 'new novel') trend of the 1960s, along with Nathalie Sarraute, Michel Butor and Claude Simon.
Figura fundacional y principal teórico del nouveau roman, inició su andadura literaria con la novela La doble muerte del profesor Dupont (1953), recreación del mito de Edipo en clave detectivesca. Tras ella aparecieron El mirón ( Le Voyeur, 1955), La celosía (1957) y En el laberinto (1959).
Biografía de Alain Robbe-Grillet. Se licenció como Ingeniero Agrónomo en el Instituto Nacional Agronómico, y durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, fu enviado a Nuremberg, donde realizó trabajos forzosos.
Extraño destino: ser uno de los narradores más impetuosos del siglo XX y morir, en el XXI, como una curiosa pieza de museo. Porque así, me temo, se mira hoy a Alain Robbe-Grillet: no como una escuela, viva, de subversión literaria sino como ejemplo de una época, experimental y formalista, ya clausurada. ¿Qué ocurrió?

He graduated from the Paris-based Institut National Agronomique (National Institute of Agronomy) in 1945 and embarked on a career of scientific research in the tropics and in France.
