Carl Philipp Christian von Gontard (13 January 1731 in Mannheim – 23 September 1791 in Breslau) was a German architect who worked primarily in Berlin, Potsdam, and Bayreuth in the style of late Baroque Classicism.

Fue construido en 1770-1771 por Carl von Gontard y Georg Christian Unger por orden de Federico II de Prusia. Se encuentra al final de la Brandenburger Straße, que discurre en línea recta hasta la Iglesia de San Pedro y San Pablo . Historia. Carl Philippo Christian von Gontard (1731 – 1791) war ein deutscher Architekt des Rokoko und Klassizismus. Nachdem der Architekt aus Mannheim zahlreiche Bürgerhäuser und die Bayreuther Schlossanlagen entworfen hatte, trat er 1764 in die Dienste von Friedrich II. von Preußen.
Carl von Gontard, der seit 1786 Mitglied und Lehrer der Preußischen Akademie der Künste war und neben Unger auch Heinrich Gentz zu seinen Schülern zählte, hat den spätbarocken Klassizismus in Berlin und Potsdam zu einem spezifisch preußischen Stil geprägt.
