Hester Lynch Thrale Piozzi (née Salusbury; 27 January 1741 or 16 January 1740 – 2 May 1821), was a Welsh writer and socialite who was an important source on Samuel Johnson and 18th-century British life.

Hester Lynch Thrale Piozzi is one of the most interesting female writers of the late eighteenth century. The only daughter of an impoverished Welsh family, she received an excellent education “although Education was a Word then unknown, as applied to Females” ( Thraliana ).
The text which follows is a fictional narrative of Hester Lynch Thrale’s visit, based on fragments and testimonies that can be found at the exhibition, Visitors to Versailles, at the Château de Versailles until 25th of February 2018.

31 de jul. de 2021 · On 23 July 1784 Hester Lynch Thrale married the Italian, Roman Catholic singer Gabriel Piozzi despite the opposition of her children and her friends, including Samuel Johnson, the literary lion who had lived with her intermittently for the past twenty years.
