Avempace o Avenpace (1095-1139). De verdadero nombre Abu Baker Muhammad Ibn Yahya Ibn Bayya al-Andalusi as-Saragusti, fue el primer pensador hispano-árabe de verdadera talla. Además de filósofo, también destacó en el campo de las matemáticas, la poesía y la ciencia en general.

Biografía. La Aljafería, palacio de los reyes taifas y almorávides saraqustíes. Avempace fue visir de Ibn Tifilwit entre 1115 y 1117. Nació en lo que hoy es Zaragoza entre 1070 y 1090 de familia humilde, hijo de plateros, cuando Zaragoza estaba ocupada por los almorávides.
