Colen Campbell (né dans le Moray en Écosse le 15 juin 1676 - mort à Mayfair en Londres le 13 septembre 1729) est un architecte écossais qui passa la majeure partie de sa carrière en Angleterre. Il est crédité comme étant le fondateur de l’ architecture georgienne.
The present building is not actually a castle, but was built in the 1720s by John Fane, 7th Earl of Westmorland to the 1723 design of the architect Colen Campbell being an almost exact copy of Palladio's Villa Rotunda near Venice. The interior features plasterwork by Giovanni Bagutti and fresco painting by Francesco Sleter.

In 1715 Child commissioned the Scottish architect Colen Campbell to design a grand mansion in the then emerging Neo-Palladian style, to replace the former house, and to rival contemporary mansions such as Blenheim Palace.
