David Lunn-Rockliffe (28 December 1924 – 23 August 2011) was a British businessman, rowing supporter, and co-founder of the River and Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames, England. [1] [2] Lunn-Rockliffe was the youngest son of an English father, a doctor, and Swiss mother. [1]

It is with much sadness that we announce the death of David Lunn-Rockliffe, who died peacefully on Tuesday 23rd August 2011. David was Executive Secretary of the Amateur Rowing Association from 1976-87 when he retired aged 62.

The impetus for the museum largely came from David Lunn-Rockliffe, formerly Executive Secretary of the Amateur Rowing Association. [2] . The building was designed by the modernist architect Sir David Chipperfield [3] and has won awards for the building itself, including the Royal Fine Art Commission Building of the Year award in 1999.

The obituary was written by rowing historian Christopher Dodd, whom together with Lunn-Rockliffe laid down the plans for what came to be the Henley River & Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames.
