In effect, ADO Den Haag no longer holds a position in the top division of professional Dutch football. Since 2020, the basketball club The Hague Royals plays in the professional Dutch Basketball League (DBL).

The Hague (with capital T; Dutch: also called 's-Gravenhage, commonly Den Haag) is the third-largest municipality in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam and Rotterdam. It has a population of about 546,000 (2020) and an area of around 98 km². [1] . It is in the west of the country, in the province South Holland. It is the capital of the province.

The club was for a time known as FC Den Haag ([ɛfˈseː dɛn ˈɦaːx]), with ADO representing the amateur branch of the club. Despite being from one of the traditional three large Dutch cities, it has not been able to match Ajax , Feyenoord or PSV in terms of success in the Eredivisie or in European competition.
