Niedernhausen liegt im Vorderen Odenwald beiderseits des Fischbachs, dessen Tal sich nach Nordosten zur Gersprenzniederung bei Groß-Bieberau öffnet. Im Westen des Ortskerns erhebt sich auf einem steilen bewaldeten Bergkegel Schloss Lichtenberg. Die Gemarkung umfasst 457 Hektar, davon 194 Hektar bewaldet (Stand: 1961).
