Francis Josias, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (25 September 1697, in Saalfeld – 16 September 1764, in Rodach) was a duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld . Biography. Era el cuarto hijo vivo de Juan Ernesto IV, duque de Sajonia-Coburgo-Saalfeld, el tercero nacido de la segunda esposa de su padre, Carlota Juana de Waldeck-Wildungen.
Franz Josias, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1697-1764) was the fourth son of John Ernest IV, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, the third born by his fathers second wife Charlotte Johanna of Waldeck-Wildungen. He was the great-great-grandfather to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
In 1745, Francis Josias inherited parts of Saxe-Coburg from his brother. In 1747, he was able to anchor his birthright ( primogeniture ) in the Line of Succession Laws and confer it on his rapidly growing family for the long-term survival of the House of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld.
