Frederick William Nicholls Crouch (30 July 1808 – 18 August 1896) was an English composer and cellist. Biography. Crouch was born in Marylebone in the city of Westminster, in London. He emigrated to the United States in 1849 and settled in Richmond, Virginia.

An English composer and cellist who settled in the United States and played the trumpet for the Confederacy during the Civil War. His most famous song "Kathleen Mavoureen" was written in England; at the same time he was becoming a lecturer on legendary figures from Ireland.
