Henriette of Cleves. Henriette de La Marck (31 October 1542 – 24 June 1601), also known as Henriette of Cleves, was a French noblewoman and courtier. She was the 4th Duchess of Nevers, suo jure Countess of Rethel, and Princess of Mantua by her marriage with Louis I of Gonzaga-Nevers.

La Princesse de Clèves ( [la pʁɛ̃.sɛs də klɛv], "The Princess of Cleves ") is a French novel which was published anonymously in March 1678. It was regarded by many as the beginning of the modern tradition of the psychological novel and a classic work. Its author is generally held to be Madame de La Fayette .
In 1563 he was established as governor of the Nivernais. He died on 9 September 1564, and in the absence of any offspring was succeeded by his sister Henriette de Clèves who married Louis de Gonzague therefore transferring the ducal title to a new family jure uxoris (through the rights of the wife).

La Princesse de Clèves o Cléveris es una novela francesa que se publicó de forma anónima en marzo de 1678. Es considerada por muchos como el comienzo de la tradición moderna de la novela psicológica (por la gran introspección en los personajes), y como una obra clásica grande. Se atribuye su autoría a Madame de La Fayette .
