La Altagracia (Spanish pronunciation: [la altaˈɣɾasja]) is a province located in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic. It is the only region that borders the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. It is divided into two municipalities and its capital is the beach city of Punta Cana.
The La Altagracia province has a total area of 2,998.4 km 2 (1,157.7 sq mi). It has 6.2% of the area of the Dominican Republic and it is ranked as the second (out of 31 plus the National District) largest province. The altitude of Salvaleón de Higüey, provincial capital, is 87 m (285 ft).

Punta Cana is a resort town in the easternmost region of the Dominican Republic. It was politically incorporated as the "Verón–Punta Cana township" in 2006, and it is subject to the municipality of Higüey ( La Altagracia Province ). Saona Island (Spanish: Isla Saona) is a 110 square kilometer tropical island located off the south-east coast in Dominican Republic's La Altagracia province. It is a government-protected nature reserve and is part of Parque Nacional Cotubanamá. There are two permanent settlements, the towns of Mano Juan and Catuano.
