Designing Women was a Syndication network sitcom created by Linda Bloodworth-Thomason which aired from September 29, 1986 to May 24, 1993, lasting for six seasons & 163 episodes. The series spawned a short-lived spin-off series "Women of the House" in 1995.
After she calls off the engagement, B.J. takes everyone to Las Vegas in her jet. While Julia and Mary Jo hit a hot streak at the craps table, Anthony watches the showgirls at the Folies Bergere and falls for the lead singer, Etienne Toussaint. After the women hit it big, they find Anthony and Etienne in bed.
The Atlanta, Georgia decorating firm Sugarbaker's consists (initially) of four contrasting women who are not only well-founded characters but function as archetypes in the series' evolving internal debate over the problems of women -- particuarly, Southern women -- in a man's world.
