List of states with limited recognition. A number of polities have declared independence and sought diplomatic recognition from the international community as sovereign states, but have not been universally recognised as such. These entities often have de facto control of their territory.
The criteria for inclusion in this list are similar to those of the list of states with limited recognition. To be included here, a polity must have claimed statehood, lacked recognition from at least one state, and either: had a population and an organized government with a capacity to enter into relations with other states; or
