Region Zealand (Danish: Region Sjælland) is the southernmost administrative region of Denmark, established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, which abolished the traditional counties ("amter") and set up five larger regions. Zealand Region has 17 municipalities.
Zealand (Danish: Sjælland [ˈɕeˌlænˀ]) at 7,031 km 2 is the largest and most populous island in Denmark proper (thus excluding Greenland and Disko Island, which are larger in size). Zealand had a population of 2,319,705 on 1 January 2020, comprising 40% of the country's population.
Den nordøstlige del af øen, herunder København, Hillerød og Helsingør, tilhører Region Hovedstaden. Region Sjælland omfatter også øerne Lolland, Falster, Møn og flere mindre øer. Regionen består af de tidligere Roskilde, Storstrøms og Vestsjællands Amter, hvor regionshuset er placeret i Sorø .

It is the southernmost town in Denmark, and also the southernmost point of Scandinavia and the Nordic countries. The town has a population of 659 (1 January 2023). [1] .
