Salem Academy is a boarding and day school for high school girls in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It shares its campus with Salem College, located near historic Old Salem. It is the oldest private school in North Carolina, and the fourth-oldest boarding school in the United States.

Salem Academy is situated on a 47-acre campus in the heart of historic Old Salem, North Carolina. We share a campus with Salem College, a Top 25 Liberal Arts Institution and one of the nation’s first women’s colleges.

Founded four years before the Declaration of Independence, Salem Academy and College is the oldest educational institution for girls and women in the United States. Our Moravian founders believed that girls and women were entitled to the same education as boys and men.
