Simmering ist der 11. Wiener Gemeindebezirk. Er wurde 1892 aus den selbstständigen Gemeinden Simmering und Kaiserebersdorf sowie kleinen Teilen anderer Gemeinden gebildet. 1956 kam die bis 1938 eigenständige Gemeinde Albern hinzu.

Simmering is a station on U3 of the Vienna U-Bahn. Above the U-Bahn station is the Wien Simmering railway station, which is served by international and regional trains, and also by line S80 of the Vienna S-Bahn.
