Studios is a production company launched by Nickelodeon and Paramount+ on February 24, 2021, with Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino serving as co-chief creative officers. According to DiMartino and Konietzko, they have a multi-tiered plan for the future of the Avatar series. The projects will expand upon the largely unexplored past, as well as the future of the world of Avatar. Each project will "feel like Avatar", but will have its own unique tone and look. They have also stated that there is no plan to work on adaptations of Avatar comics or books. Avatar Studios content will be expanding on ancillary book canon.
Currently, Avatar Studios is working on four new television series and three new animated theatrical films. The three films will be made in an original hybrid 2D and computer-generated (CG) style, and in collaboration with Flying Bark Productions. DiMartino and Konietzko have looked into hybrid styles of 2D-3D, although this idea was discarded, as well as pure 3D animation. It was reported that concept art for the first film was shown at the Annecy International Film Animation Festival, showing a shot of a walled city with a giant tower (later clarified to resemble General Fong's fortress) with the caption "The Avatar Returns" and the elemental symbol for earth.
•While Avatar Studios is making animated content, published material will still be part of the Avatar series going forward.
