Charles Somerset, 1st Earl of Worcester, KG (c. 1460 – 15 March 1526) was an English nobleman and politician. He was the bastard son of Henry Beaufort, 3rd Duke of Somerset by his mistress Joan Hill.

Charles Somerset, 1st Earl of Worcester [1] Charles, the illegitimate son of Henry Beaufort, 3rd Duke of Somerset by his mistress Joan Hill, [2] was born circa 1460. [3] He married three times: [3] Elizabeth Herbert, [3] Baroness Herbert, daughter of William Herbert, 2nd Earl of Pembroke and Mary Wydeville, on 2 June 1492 [1]
Biography. The Somerset earls of Worcester, by virtue of their royal blood, their extensive lands, their strong Welsh connexions and their staunch support for Henry Tudor, held a dominant position in south-eastern Wales from the Act of Union onwards.
